NORTHERN DIVISION AWARDS 2021

Jim Barrier Gold Cup

The Gold Cup is Northern Division’s premiere race series. This is a continental cup type competition for the top racers in Northern Division events counting for Gold Cup points include the U16 to A qualifiers and the OHG and

Are open to all Sr., U21, U19 and U16’s. Awards are given for overall as well as by class. The class awards are based on points scored within the class, so a separate scoring system.

The Bill Kenney series runs parallel to the Gold Cup Series. This is a continental type competition for U16 and U19 competitors in Northern Division who are registered in high school.

This is our team award given for the quality not quantity and is intent to promote junior racing, club spirit, and unity.

YSL Overall Champions

These awards are given to the top Male and top female athletes during the YSL Championships. All events are scored for individuals using old world point points. The top three placing male and female athletes from the results sheet for each event are scored; all must have a finishing result for all events contested.

The “AK Rocket Award” supports a dedicated and passionate U14 or 1st year U16 alpine skier (ages 12, 13, & 14) that exhibit a dedication to the sport, determination to skiing improvement, positive interdivision sportsmanship and support of fellow athletes for success.

Academic Awards

Northern Division Academic Awards shall recognize those U16’s and older athletes who have displayed exemplary academic success while training and competing in U.S. Ski & Snowboard events in the Northern Division. These athletes must send divisional manager copies of their transcript showing that they have at least a cumulative 3.50 grade point average using a 4.0 scale.

Academic Awards

Northern Division Academic Awards shall recognize those high school aged U16 and older athletes who have displayed exemplary academic success while training and competing in U.S. Ski & Snowboard events in Northern Division. Awards will be presented at the Northern Division Championships to be held in late March/Early April. To be considered, athletes are responsible for submitting a copy of their official transcript to the Northern Division Manager by March 15th of the current year. Criteria: any U16 -U21 high school aged athlete must have at least a cumulative 3.50 grade point average using a 4.0 scale.
